What Do You Need to Do?
A concise explanation is provided in the Guideline on the Recognition of Credits Earned Abroad (short version). A detailed overview of the recognition of examination achievements can be found in the Guideline on the Recognition of Study and Examination Achievements Based on Competences at FAU.
Further information is available on the International Office website.
- Apply for the Erasmus programme or organise your stay abroad.
- Identify potential foreign modules that may be eligible for recognition by the School.
- Conclude a WiSo Learning Agreement for the foreign modules with the responsible academic chair.
- Additional Information for ERASMUS Students
In addition to the ERASMUS Learning Agreement, the following applies:
a) Complete the upper section with information on the foreign courses.
b) Do not enter any German course information in the lower section; instead, include the note “see Learning Agreement School of Business and Economics”.
- Additional Information for ERASMUS Students
- Complete the modules abroad.
- Submit the completed application for recognition (→ Notes & Forms → Forms for Bachelor’s degree programmes or Master’s degree programmes) of study and examination achievements completed abroad, together with the relevant certificate(s) confirming the passed module(s), to the degree program coordinator.
- The degree program coordinator carries out the complete conversion of module grades. The grading tables used for this purpose are defined by the responsible programme coordinators and are available for inspection at the International Office; however, they are not distributed electronically or by other means. These tables have been developed on the basis of many years of experience of our professors, in accordance with the recommendation of the German Rectors’ Conference (HRK), based on the “Modified Bavarian Formula” and taking country-specific characteristics into account.
- Forward the recognition form signed by the degree program coordinator to the Office for International Relations for signature (please bring a copy with you).
- Finally, submit the recognition form to the Examinations Office.
Please note the following additional information regarding the conversion of grades from foreign study achievements:
- Only the national grades (“local grades”) stated on the official Transcript of Records are used for grade conversion.
- Additional information beyond the “local grade,” such as ECTS grade, grade point average, grade points, class performance evaluation, or similar, is not taken into account in the conversion.
- If both percentage grades and another grading system are stated simultaneously on the Transcript of Records, the percentage grade is decisive.
- Any conversion recommendations provided by the foreign higher education institution cannot be considered.
- The Examination Board and/or the International Office (in consultation with the programme coordinators) reserves the right to review and, if necessary, revise the conversion tables at regular intervals. The version of the table valid on the date of application, which is available to the degree program coordinators, is decisive for the grade conversion.
- If you participate in an Erasmus programme in Europe, your host university may grade your performance according to the ECTS grading scale (A–B–C–D–E–F). If no other grading system is indicated on your Transcript of Records, the conversion will be carried out on the basis of ECTS grades.
