Recognition of Periods of Study and Examination Achievements in the Event of a Change of University or Degree Program
You are in the right place if…
- you are transferring from another higher education institution to the School of Business, Economics and Society.
- or you have changed your degree program within FAU Erlangen–Nürnberg and are now studying at the School of Business, Economics and Society.
You are in the wrong place if…
- you wish to have examination achievements completed abroad recognised that you obtained during a stay abroad while being enrolled at the School of Business, Economics and Society.
- you intend to conclude a Learning Agreement.
- you have concluded a Learning Agreement and now wish to have the examination achievements completed abroad recognised.

What Do You Need to Do?
- Complete the application for the recognition of periods of study and examination achievements, including Appendix I and Appendix II (students who have changed their degree program within FAU only need to submit the application and Appendix I). To facilitate processing, please complete all forms electronically. Applications for recognition for Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes, including the appendices, are available on the Examinations Office website.
- Submit all forms, including all required documentation for the assessment of equivalence (see application), to the Examinations Office.
- A detailed overview of the recognition of examination achievements is provided in the Guideline on the Recognition of Study and Examination Achievements Based on Competences at FAU.
What Do You Need to Consider?
- The application must be submitted at the beginning of your studies or upon commencing the new degree program and must be submitted before registering for examination.
- The Examinations Office decides on recognition only after equivalence has been determined by the responsible academic representatives. Your application will be forwarded directly by the Examinations Office to the relevant academic representatives. Please allow for a longer processing time.
