WiSo as a Pioneer in Partial System Accreditation

The School of Business, Economics and Society (WiSo) was the first institution in Germany to successfully complete partial system accreditation in the summer semester of 2013.

As part of (partial) system accreditation, structures and processes relevant to teaching and studying are reviewed to determine whether they ensure the achievement of the qualification objectives and a high quality of degree programs. This process is based on the European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ESG), the requirements of the Standing Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK), and the crieteria of the German Accreditation Council (AR). A positive system accreditation certifies that a university’s quality assurance system in the area of teaching and learning is suitable for ensuring the achievement of qualification objectives and the quality standards of its degree programs. In the case of partial system accreditation, the focus was specifically on the School of Business, Economics and Society.

Between 2014 and 2016, FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg underwent system accreditation, and since 2016 FAU has been system-accredited. Within this framework, all degree programs at WiSo are accredited, meaning that every program meets the highest European quality standards.

The first reaccreditation of FAU took place beginning in 2020 and was successfully completed in December 2023. FAU is system-accredited until 2030. Further information is available here.
